About Sade hiidenkari
Sade Hiidenkari (b. 1965) is a contemporary visual artist, and a lecturer. She received her MA from the Aalto University School of Art and Design in 2018 and BA from Lahti University of Applied Sciences Art Institute in 2007. She also studied one semester in L’ Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Her works have been in exhibitions e.g. in Japan, Italy, South-Corea, Germany and Sweden.
Sade Hiidenkari is dealing with conceptual art, environmental art, sculptures and videoworks. Essential to her production are the interfaces between art and science, from where one can dive deeper. Her work is always based on scientific and artistic research, and she works alongside researchers and activists. She does communal art as well as environmental art and impact projects. For her art is a way to react, comment and to be active in society.
In her works Sade Hiidenkari has been investigating and combining ecopsychology and new forest sciences. She is fascinated by the interaction and relations of undergroud forests, their co-operation and communication, which carries the lives of all the other species. Her latest project Mycelium is an interactive media artwork, dealing with invisible connections between the underground forests, trees and human beings.
